Islamabad( The COW News Digital)In a major political development, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has reached out to Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) to mediate between the party and the government for the release of its imprisoned founder and former Prime Minister, Imran Khan.

The revelation was made by JI Ameer Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, who confirmed that senior PTI leaders had approached his party requesting mediation. Speaking to media, Hafiz Naeem said, “Yes, PTI leaders contacted us and requested that Jamaat-e-Islami play a role in negotiating Imran Khan’s release and facilitating dialogue with the government.”

However, Hafiz Naeem laid down a clear condition. “We told them to first obtain a clear mandate from Imran Khan himself. Without transparency and full authorization, we are not willing to engage with the government on PTI’s behalf,” he stated.

According to the JI chief, his party held internal consultations on the matter. “We discussed the matter thoroughly within our party. We are ready to mediate if PTI brings transparency within its ranks and its leadership comes forward with a formal mandate from Khan,” Hafiz Naeem added.

The JI leadership emphasized that their role as a neutral mediator depends on PTI’s internal clarity and unity. “We will only initiate any dialogue with the government once it is clear that PTI’s founder and its leadership are on the same page and serious about reconciliation,” he said.

Commenting on the broader political landscape, Hafiz Naeem stressed the need for national unity. “Pakistan is facing critical challenges. Political parties must act responsibly and come together for the country’s future. This is not a time for division, but for collective action.”

This development comes at a time when PTI is grappling with leadership vacuums, defections, and ongoing crackdowns. The outreach to Jamaat-e-Islami is being seen as a strategic shift from confrontation to potential dialogue, aimed at securing relief for Khan and reviving the party’s political relevance.

Observers say the success of any mediation will depend on PTI’s internal cohesion and the government’s willingness to engage in political reconciliation.
