In a significant development, the district administration has granted permission to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold a power show in Islamabad on August 22. This comes after a contempt plea was filed in Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the suspension of No Objection Certificate (NOC) for PTI’s power show.
The PTI had initially been granted permission for a public gathering on July 6 near Tarnol Chowk, but it was later suspended by the Islamabad Chief Commissioner due to security concerns. However, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had ordered the issuance of NOC for the meeting, which was then cancelled by the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad.
The contempt plea was filed against the officials responsible for suspending the NOC, urging the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings. The petition stated that the PTI leader Amir Mughal was arrested by police outside the DC Office when he was taking officials to the power show site.
The district administration’s decision to grant permission for the power show is a significant victory for PTI, which has been facing resistance from the authorities. The power show is expected to be a major event, with PTI leaders and supporters gathering to showcase their strength.
