Islamabad (INP): PTI leader Suleman Akram Raja has stated that the party may postpone its call for civil disobedience if political prisoners are released. Speaking in an interview, Raja expressed the expectation that the decision on the £190 million case will be announced on Monday but clarified that they have no illusions about the outcome. He mentioned that if the decision is unfavorable, the party will appeal.
Raja revealed that the PTI negotiation committee had requested a meeting with the party founder but, as of yet, no meeting had been arranged. He urged the Punjab government, which controls the jails, to ensure the meeting takes place. He emphasized that there has been no delay from PTI’s side in the negotiations.
On the investigations into the events of May 9 and November 26, Raja called for a judicial commission, saying it was a legitimate demand. He reiterated that the party seeks the release of Imran Khan and all political prisoners. Raja criticized the government for obstructing bail applications for detained PTI leaders and insisted that they should be granted bail.
He also pointed out that the PTI does not link decisions on these cases with the negotiation process. He concluded by stating that if the government’s demands are not met by January 31, the party expects to see progress on their requests.
