PTI Leader Speaks Out Against Party Leadership, Expresses Disappointment
In a surprising turn of events, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shaukat Yousafzai criticized the party’s central leadership for their handling of the recent protest in Islamabad, expressing deep disappointment.
Speaking about the protest, Yousafzai questioned the absence of senior leaders during critical moments. He remarked, “Where was the leadership during the protest? The central leadership has let us down. Why were negotiations not pursued?”
Yousafzai also questioned why the offer to protest at Sangjani was rejected. “It was Bushra Bibi who decided to move towards D-Chowk,” he stated, hinting at a lack of strategic decision-making.
In an interview with a private TV channel, Yousafzai revealed that Ali Amin Gandapur and Bushra Bibi were in Mansehra at the time of the protest. He demanded an investigation into why D-Chowk was chosen as the protest site, despite knowing that government action was imminent.
“The PTI leadership has been a disappointment. Besides Ali Amin Gandapur, no leader stepped forward. There was a lack of consultation and communication, and it was evident that the strategy was weak,” he lamented.
He criticized senior party figures, questioning the absence of key leaders like Barrister Gohar and Salman Akram Raja, as well as Sher Afzal Marwat. “If the leadership lacked the authority to make decisions, why did they mobilize such a large number of workers?” Yousafzai asked.
Yousafzai further emphasized the need for an internal inquiry: “If it was already known that the government would take action at D-Chowk, why was that location chosen? Why was the Sangjani proposal ignored?”
It is worth noting that during the previous day’s massive PTI protest in Islamabad, negotiations between the party and the government over the protest site continued, while several clashes occurred between police and protesters. Despite reaching D-Chowk, the protest leaders, including Bushra Bibi and Ali Amin Gandapur, suddenly left the scene late at night and reportedly fled to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
