Rawalpindi: Five senior leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were arrested from Adiala Jail on charges related to ongoing cases in Attock and Hasan Abdal.
Among those detained, Omar Ayub, Raja Basharat, and Ahmed Nasser were taken into custody for cases registered in Attock and Hasan Abdal, while Raja Majid and Azeem Malik were arrested in connection with a case registered at Dhamial Police Station.
The police have submitted a detailed report of the arrests to the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), where the detained PTI leaders will be presented tomorrow.
Following the arrests, all five PTI leaders were transferred from Adiala Jail to the Police Lines Rawalpindi.
Earlier, PTI leaders Omar Ayub, Ahmed Chattha, Raja Basharat, and Azeemuddin were arrested outside Adiala Jail and subsequently moved to the jail’s internal checkpoint for processing.
Speaking to the media, Rana Mudassir, Omar Ayub’s legal counsel, confirmed the arrests, stating, “Omar Ayub and Raja Basharat were taken into custody by the Adiala Jail checkpoint authorities.”
