PTI leader Shaukat Yousafzai has stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is serious about engaging in negotiations, but the government’s attitude remains irresponsible. Speaking on the Dunya News program “Tonight with Syed Samar Abbas”, Yousafzai emphasized that if negotiations commence, the civil disobedience movement will be set aside. However, he criticized the government for not forming a negotiation committee thus far.
He remarked, “PTI is serious about negotiations, but the government’s approach is highly irresponsible. The same government once claimed that PTI leaders are not political. We are political people, and political individuals have strong strategies.”
Yousafzai expressed his opposition to civil disobedience but stressed that in the absence of justice, PTI would have no other choice. He added that the Speaker of the National Assembly is in favor of negotiations, but the government has given a lukewarm response.
The PTI leader warned that the government has until tomorrow to initiate talks; otherwise, it will be held accountable for any consequences. He highlighted that PTI has the option of protests and has already formed a seven-member committee to demonstrate its seriousness toward negotiations.
Commenting on the role of the military, Yousafzai said, “This army is our army, and we love it. We do not support anyone speaking against the army on social media.” He criticized the government for assuming that negotiations are a PTI compulsion, stating, “The government is doing nothing itself but is asking us to defer the civil disobedience movement.”
