Islamabad – The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued 177 telecom licenses in the fiscal year 2023-24. Authorities have also announced that the license issuance system has been moved online.
According to official documents, the PTA issued 60 fixed local loop licenses, 36 class value-added service licenses, and 31 wireless HF and VHF licenses in the past year. Additionally, 39 amateur, 3 long-distance and international, 6 aeronautical mobile station, and 2 LPWAN licenses were granted.
The PTA also noted that a total of 2,140 licenses have been issued across all categories so far. In terms of submarine cables, 7 licenses were granted, with 4 more in the pipeline.
The move to an online system aims to facilitate applicants from remote areas in obtaining licenses.
