MOROCCO:( The COW News Digital)-Mass protests have erupted in Morocco as thousands of young people take to the streets against corruption and misuse of public resources. The demonstrations, ongoing for four days, intensified after police opened fire on protesters in the town of Lqliya near Agadir, leaving three more dead and raising the death toll to seven.

Led by youth under the banner of the online group “GenZ 212”, the movement has spread rapidly through platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Discord. Protesters accuse the government of ignoring basic needs such as hospitals and schools while spending billions on stadiums and infrastructure for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch has offered dialogue, but the unrest shows no signs of slowing. Morocco’s Interior Ministry claims protesters tried to seize weapons from security forces, while police have arrested more than a thousand people. Despite the crackdown, the protest movement continues to grow, echoing recent uprisings in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.
