The Islamabad High Court has issued a notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in a contempt of court case, requiring a response by next week.
The court has also issued notices to the Interior Secretary, Chief Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and the Inspector General of Islamabad.
Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court presided over the hearing on Thursday.
The president of the traders’ association from Islamabad’s F-7 sector had filed the contempt petition, stating that despite clear court orders, thousands of protestors entered Islamabad and disrupted the city’s functioning.
The petition further contends that the government and administration failed to maintain law and order in the capital.
It requests the court to initiate contempt proceedings against the responsible parties for defying court orders.
