New Delhi ( The COW News Digital)Indian National Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has strongly condemned both the Israeli military offensive in Gaza and the global community’s muted response, calling it a “grave crime” and an act of “inhuman apathy.”
According to Indian media reports, Priyanka accused Israel of carrying out a systematic genocide against Palestinians, claiming that over 60,000 people have been killed in Gaza since the escalation of hostilities — among them 18,430 children. She argued that the ongoing siege and indiscriminate attacks have not only taken thousands of lives but have also left countless others struggling to survive under catastrophic humanitarian conditions.
Priyanka expressed deep disappointment over the failure of international institutions, including the United Nations and prominent human rights organizations, to take decisive action. “The silence and inaction of the world community in the face of such atrocities is itself a serious crime,” she said, emphasizing that global powers must be held accountable for their indifference.
She also took aim at India’s own government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing it of remaining a “silent spectator” in the face of grave human rights violations. “It is shameful that our government has chosen to ignore this humanitarian catastrophe,” she stated, underscoring that India’s historical stance on supporting oppressed peoples is being undermined by this silence.
Highlighting the devastating impact of Israel’s blockade on Gaza, Priyanka warned that hundreds of children and other vulnerable individuals are dying not only from bombings but also from severe malnutrition and lack of medical supplies. She called the blockade a form of collective punishment that violates international law and basic human decency.
In her appeal, Priyanka urged the global community — particularly the UN, humanitarian organizations, and world leaders — to take immediate and concrete steps to halt the violence, lift the blockade, and ensure the delivery of food, medicine, and other essential aid to Gaza’s beleaguered population.
Her remarks have added to growing criticism within India’s opposition ranks, where several political leaders have demanded that the government take a clear and moral stance against the Gaza assault. Social media platforms have since seen a surge of discussions, with many praising Priyanka’s statement while others accused her of politicizing a sensitive international issue.
For now, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza shows no sign of abating, and voices like Priyanka’s are adding to mounting pressure on global leaders to break their silence.
