Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman engaged in a telephonic conversation to address concerns regarding the proposed Madressah Registration Bill.
According to JUI-F spokesperson Aslam Ghauri, Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed reservations about the bill during the discussion, emphasizing the need to safeguard the autonomy and independence of religious seminaries.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reportedly assured the JUI-F leader that all concerns regarding the legislation would be resolved.
During the call, Maulana Fazlur Rehman reiterated his stance, cautioning the government against turning a consensus-based bill into a controversial issue. “We stand firm on our position and will not compromise on the independence and self-governance of madressahs,” he stated.
The dialogue highlights ongoing efforts to address key concerns of stakeholders and maintain harmony within the ruling coalition.
