Islamabad( The COW News Digital)In a significant political development ahead of the upcoming Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), a delegation from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) met with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazlur Rehman (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to discuss joint election strategies. The meeting, held under the leadership of senior PPP leader Khursheed Shah, focused on forming an alliance to contest the KP Senate elections together.
The PPP delegation included key figures such as KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and MPA Zahir Shah. They were joined by JUI-F leaders Akram Khan Durrani, Maulana Lutfur Rehman, Asad Mehmood, and Asjad Mehmood during the discussions. The talks primarily revolved around collaboration in the Senate elections to enhance the chances of success for the allied parties in KP.
Sources reveal that the discussions are part of broader efforts to forge a united front in KP for the July 21 Senate polling. Reports suggest that besides PPP and JUI-F, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Awami National Party (ANP) might also be brought on board to strengthen the alliance. The aim is to combine resources and coordinate candidate selection to maximize votes in the provincial assembly.
In addition to party coordination, there are plans to engage with independent members of the KP provincial assembly to secure their support, further bolstering the coalition’s position in the Senate elections.
