The poultry industry crisis in Pakistan has worsened due to a severe shortage of chicks, with prices skyrocketing. The cost of chicks has surged from 55 rupees to 230 rupees each, and even the expensive chicks are unavailable in the market. According to market sources, the lack of chicks for several days has led to a halt in the introduction of new chicks into farms, disrupting the preparation of new flocks in the poultry industry.

Meanwhile, the price of chicken meat has continued to rise. Due to the wedding season and increased consumption of chicken during the winter months, the demand for broiler chicken has surpassed the supply. As a result, several vendors have raised the prices of broiler meat arbitrarily. While the official price of broiler chicken remains at 595 rupees per kilogram, in some areas, it is being sold for as high as 700 rupees per kilogram. Farmers have demanded a reduction in the cost of feed, but the feed committee recently decided to maintain the current prices.
