islamabad:In India, the police clashed with farmers participating in the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march, leaving at least eight farmers injured. The use of tear gas also led to several farmers falling ill.
The police attempted to stop the farmers at Shambhu, located at the border of Punjab and Haryana, nearly 200 kilometers from Delhi. This resulted in long traffic jams on the highway.
The farmers are demanding a government guarantee for loan waivers, state support for farmers, and the fulfillment of promises to increase their income.
As a result of the protests, mobile internet services have been suspended in the border district of Ambala in Haryana.
According to Indian media reports, after today’s clashes with the police, the farmers have decided to halt their march towards Delhi.
