Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has stated that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would not object to talks between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the military. In an interview with Voice of America, Iqbal questioned the purpose of such talks, suggesting that the PTI’s actions are detrimental to the state’s interests.
Iqbal emphasized that the PTI’s behavior is unacceptable and that the party should apologize to the nation and institutions. He suggested that a change in behavior could allow the PTI to re-enter the national mainstream.
The minister also expressed concerns about the potential consequences of court decisions that may create instability and uncertainty. He noted that even countries like the USA and UK would not tolerate political parties engaging in harmful behavior.
