Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has pledged to revamp Pakistan’s economy by emulating China’s model, with the objective of achieving similar economic success on a smaller scale. He made this statement during a meeting with a 12-member Chinese delegation led by Wang Fukang in Islamabad.
The prime minister expressed his desire to model Pakistan’s economy after China’s, citing the success of China’s economic growth. He noted that during his recent visit to China, he requested President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Qiang to send experts to Pakistan, who are now in the country to assist in achieving this goal.
PM Sharif emphasized the importance of industrial cooperation between Pakistan and China, stating that joint ventures and cooperation would create a win-win situation. He also highlighted the potential for Pakistan to meet Chinese requirements by exporting high-quality goods and exploring opportunities in mining and minerals, IT, and export zones.
The Chinese delegation, comprising representatives from 10 different Chinese ministries, is visiting Pakistan to enhance cooperation across various sectors, including investment, trade, and industry. They will provide input on Chinese investment, the second phase of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and boosting Pakistani exports.
