Islamabad ( The COW News Digital)On the occasion of Kashmir Accession Day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Kashmir, stating that the presence of one million Indian troops has failed to crush the spirit and resolve of the Kashmiri people. In his official message, the Prime Minister lauded the ongoing sacrifices made by generations of Kashmiris in their struggle for the right to self-determination.

“Kashmiris’ resilience remains unshaken despite decades of Indian oppression,” said Shehbaz Sharif, noting that the third generation of Kashmiris continues to carry forward the legacy of their forefathers in the fight for freedom. He added that the Kashmiri freedom movement, which began in 1947, remains alive and active, undeterred by the Indian military’s brutality.

Kashmir Accession Day is observed annually on July 19 to commemorate the historic resolution passed by the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference in 1947, which called for the region’s accession to Pakistan. According to the Prime Minister, this decision reflected the collective will of the Kashmiri people and remains a powerful symbol of their aspirations.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the Kashmir dispute cannot be resolved through force or coercion. “The Kashmiri people’s ongoing resistance against illegal occupation highlights their deep patriotism and unyielding desire for liberty,” he said. He reiterated that a peaceful resolution in line with United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions is the only viable path forward and essential for lasting regional peace.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue to extend moral, political, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people. “We stand shoulder to shoulder with our Kashmiri brothers and sisters until justice is served and their right to self-determination is honored,” he declared.

Kashmir has remained a flashpoint between Pakistan and India since 1947, with both countries claiming the region in full but controlling parts of it. The ongoing conflict has led to numerous human rights violations and sparked international concern.

This year’s Accession Day is marked by renewed calls for global attention and action, especially amid increasing reports of civilian casualties, communication blackouts, and demographic changes in Indian-administered Kashmir.
