Team Needs a Strong All-Rounder at Number Eight, Says Test Captain
Centurion:
Pakistan Test team captain Shan Masood has revealed that the playing XI for the first Test against South Africa has not been finalized yet. He highlighted the critical need for a reliable all-rounder at number eight in Test cricket.
Speaking at a press conference in Centurion, Masood said, “We haven’t decided on the final playing XI for the first Test yet. The pitch is expected to favor seam bowlers, and we might go with a pace-heavy attack, similar to South Africa.”
He emphasized the importance of having a quality all-rounder in the lower order. “A strong all-rounder at number eight is crucial in Test cricket. Aamir Jamal can handle both the old and new ball effectively, which is a big advantage,” Masood remarked.
The captain also expressed high expectations from the team’s fast bowlers. “We are looking forward to an improved performance from Mohammad Abbas, whose experience will be key in these conditions,” he added.
The first Test match between Pakistan and South Africa is set to begin on Thursday in Centurion, marking the start of what promises to be an intense series.
