PKR 10,000 Fine Imposed Washing Cars at Home

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued a PKR 10,000 fine for washing cars at home, while petrol pumps operating without recycling plants will face a PKR 100,000 penalty.

In a written verdict, Justice Shahid Karim praised the Punjab government for its efforts in water conservation, pollution control, and environmental protection. The court assigned the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) full responsibility for monitoring compliance and enforcing regulations.

The ruling mandates that local governments ensure the installation of treatment plants in future residential and commercial construction projects. Additionally, a new authority led by the Punjab Chief Minister is being formed to oversee water conservation policies. The decision also includes various environmental improvement measures in the transport sector.
