Peshawar (News Desk): The Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court has ordered the reopening of courts in South Waziristan and Tank, which had been closed due to security concerns. Following the Chief Justice’s directive, the Registrar Office of the Peshawar High Court issued a notification reinstating the courts in both districts.

According to the notification, District and Sessions Judges as well as Senior Civil Judges in South Waziristan and Tank are instructed to resume judicial work in their respective districts. Judicial proceedings will recommence once adequate security arrangements for judges, court premises, and residences are ensured.

It is noteworthy that courts in South Waziristan and Tank were shut down on October 2, 2024, due to deteriorating law and order conditions. As a result, these courts were temporarily relocated to Dera Ismail Khan, and the judges from South Waziristan and Tank carried out their duties in D.I. Khan. The Peshawar High Court has now directed the judges to resume their judicial duties in their home districts.
