The Peshawar High Court has declared the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government’s decision to restart the process of appointing vice-chancellors for 19 public universities as null and void. The court ruled in favor of the petitioners, who argued that the process had already been completed once and restarting it would cause unnecessary delays.

The petitioners, including Dr. Aurangzeb, had approached the court against the government’s decision to restart the appointment process, which was initiated by the previous provincial government and completed by the caretaker government. The current government’s decision to form a new search committee and publish advertisements for the positions was challenged in the court.

The court heard arguments from both sides and declared the government’s decision null and void, citing that the entire process for appointing vice-chancellors had already been completed and only the governor’s approval was pending.
