Islamabad: The recent amendments to the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) have been challenged in the Supreme Court.

Citizen Qayyum Khan has filed a petition against the PECA amendments, arguing that they violate fundamental rights. The petition states that Parliament does not have the authority to legislate against fundamental rights.

Furthermore, the petitioner has urged the apex court to review not only the amendments but also the original PECA Act in light of fundamental rights. The plea requests the formation of a full bench to hear the case and declare the amendments null and void.
