PESHAWAR:( The COW News Digital)-The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has released updated figures after 48 hours of heavy rain and flash floods wreaking havoc across the province. The devastating floods have claimed the lives of 210 people, including 184 men, 14 women, and 12 children.
In addition, 21 individuals sustained injuries, comprising 18 men, 2 women, and one child. The PDMA reported that floodwaters and rain-related incidents damaged a total of 68 homes, with 61 partially destroyed and 7 completely demolished.
Most fatalities occurred in Bunir, followed by Bajaur, Battagram, Swat, Torghar, Mansehra, and Shangla. The provincial authority has released a total of PKR 500 million for affected districts, allocating PKR 150 million to Bunir, PKR 100 million each to Bajaur, Battagram, and Mansehra, and PKR 50 million to Swat.
According to Barrister Saif, KP’s Information Advisor, 3,817 people across 11 districts have been impacted by the floods and cloudbursts. Rescue efforts are ongoing for 32 missing individuals. Currently, 545 rescue personnel, 90 vehicles, and boats are engaged in relief operations.
Bunir remains the hardest-hit district with 159 confirmed deaths and 100 survivors rescued. Bajaur reported 20 fatalities with one person still missing, while Battagram has recovered 11 bodies and has 10 missing. Authorities continue to work tirelessly to provide relief and restore normalcy in the flood-stricken areas.
