The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has secured a five-year deal worth Rs1 billion with Bank of Punjab for the naming rights of Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. This agreement marks a significant achievement for the PCB’s new management, more than doubling the revenue generated from the previous naming rights agreement for National Stadium Karachi.

The PCB is upgrading stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi ahead of the Champions Trophy, with billions of rupees allocated for these improvements. To recoup some of the costs, the PCB sold the naming rights of Gaddafi Stadium to Bank of Punjab, renaming the stadium after the bank.

This deal follows the previous sale of naming rights for National Stadium Karachi to National Bank for Rs450 million in 2022. The current PCB administration, led by Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, has secured more than double the amount for Lahore’s stadium compared to Karachi.

The PCB plans to sell the naming rights for additional stadiums to sponsors in the future, following a global trend of sports stadiums being named after sponsors to boost revenue.
