Palestinian Factions Agree to Form Reconciliation Government

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced that 14 Palestinian factions, including Hamas and Fatah, have agreed to form an “interim national reconciliation government” to govern Gaza after the war. The factions met in Beijing and signed the “Beijing declaration”, committing to reconciliation.

Wang highlighted the importance of international support for Palestinian reconciliation, stating that China is keen to “play a constructive role in safeguarding peace and stability in the Middle East”.

Hamas and Fatah have been rivals since Hamas took control of Gaza in 2007. This agreement marks a significant step towards reconciliation and unity among Palestinian factions.
