Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that a retaliatory action against India is now inevitable following recent drone strikes. Speaking to a British news agency, Asif emphasized that the scope for de-escalation has been exhausted and the India-Pakistan conflict is heading towards a deadlock.

He confirmed that the recent Indian drone strikes did not cause any damage to Pakistan’s military installations. However, he assured that Pakistan’s response would focus on targeting Indian military facilities.

Asif also refuted Indian claims about the impact of the drones, stating that Lahore’s defense system was not affected by the strikes.

Additionally, the Defense Minister noted that the United States is leading international efforts to de-escalate tensions between the two countries.

In related developments, Pakistan’s military successfully intercepted and downed 29 Israeli-made Heron drones coming from India, with the strikes occurring in various regions, including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Chakwal, Attock, Bahawalpur, Mianwali, Karachi, and Chhor.

According to the Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the drone attacks resulted in injuries to four Pakistani soldiers in Lahore and the martyrdom of a civilian in Mianwali, Sindh. The spokesperson further described the drone assaults, initiated by India on the night of May 7-8, as a cowardly act, reflecting India’s increasing desperation.

Pakistan has warned that the ongoing tension is pushing the situation towards further military escalation.
