Malihah Lodhi stated that U.S. sanctions are not a new development and do not have any significant impact on Pakistan. She pointed out that since Pakistan began its nuclear program, the U.S. has imposed sanctions.
She further emphasized that the U.S. has never imposed such sanctions on India, despite its advanced missile program, labeling this as an example of Washington’s discriminatory approach. According to Lodhi, these sanctions will have zero effect on Pakistan.
Lodhi also mentioned that Pakistan is not a priority in U.S. foreign policy. She noted that with China becoming a key focus under Trump’s administration, and since the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, Pakistan-U.S. relations have reached a crossroads.
She concluded by stating that no Pakistani can support the discriminatory treatment Pakistan faces from the U.S., and that there should be no political point-scoring regarding Pakistan’s nuclear program.
