Pakistan’s exports have increased by 10.52% during the first half of the fiscal year 2024-25, reaching a significant $16.5 billion, according to the latest report. This represents a notable rise compared to the same period last year.
In December 2024, exports totaled $2.841 billion, showing a 0.28% increase compared to November. From July to November 2024, exports reached $13.6 billion, recording a growth of 12.5% year-on-year.
Government efforts to boost exports and stabilize the economy have played a crucial role in strengthening the country’s trade position. Policies aimed at supporting exports are providing a strong foundation for Pakistan’s competitiveness in the global market.
The increase in exports is also contributing to economic stability and higher foreign exchange reserves. Furthermore, it is inviting global investors to capitalize on opportunities in Pakistan.
366% Surge in Sesame Seed Exports
In a notable achievement, Pakistan’s sesame seed exports have seen a remarkable increase of 366%, with annual exports surpassing $1 billion. As a result, Pakistan has become the third-largest sesame seed exporter globally.
The production of sesame seeds has grown by 455%, reaching 1.1 million tons annually. This growth in sesame seed exports has contributed significantly to stabilizing Pakistan’s economy and reducing imports.
Federal Minister for National Food Security, Rana Tanveer Hussain, stated that the increase in sesame seed production has provided a new momentum to Pakistan’s economy. He also highlighted that improvements in processing technologies are expected to further boost the quality and quantity of sesame products.
The Ministry of Commerce has actively promoted Pakistani sesame seeds in global markets, further enhancing their visibility and demand.
