In a bid to enhance the fan experience and meet international standards, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed BDP to revamp three major cricket stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. The upgrades aim to improve infrastructure and attract local and international fans, especially younger generations, ahead of the 2024-25 cricket season.
The National Bank Stadium in Karachi, Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will undergo significant transformations. The renovations include constructing additional tiers in at least two enclosures at Gaddafi Stadium, upgrading hospitality boxes at both Gaddafi and National Bank Stadiums, adding new dressing rooms at the National Bank Stadium, and designing new roofs for the enclosures at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
PCB Chair Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the need for these renovations, citing the current state of the venues has diminished the fan experience and discouraged spectators from attending live matches. “None of our current venues meet international standards,” Naqvi stated, affirming the PCB’s responsibility to upgrade the stadiums in preparation for the Champions Trophy next year.
Dipesh Patel, principal of BDP Pattern, expressed pride in collaborating with the PCB on these iconic cricket grounds, stating that the renovations would enhance the fan experience and support the growth of cricket for future generations.
The upgrades are expected to boost the overall cricket experience in Pakistan, attracting more fans and international visitors. With the Champions Trophy on the horizon, the PCB is committed to providing world-class facilities for players and spectators alike.
