Fiverr, a freelancing platform, has made several accounts in Pakistan “unavailable” due to possible “internet disruptions”, according to Pakistani freelancers. This move comes amid reports of a significant nationwide slowdown of internet services, allegedly caused by the government’s heightened efforts to monitor internet traffic. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has denied that the issue is caused by a firewall.

Fiverr users have reported receiving notifications that their profiles have been made “unavailable” to clients, seemingly to prevent negative ratings due to inactivity caused by internet disruptions. However, not all users have received such notifications, suggesting that the platform’s action may be limited to certain cities.

Freelancers have expressed frustration and concern over the issue, as it affects their ability to work and earn a living. Rights activists have also lamented the situation, citing concerns over internet freedom and censorship.
