President Joseph R. Biden has conferred a lifetime achievement award with a medal on Pakistani-American Urdu writer and poet Raies Warsi for his dedication to promoting Urdu language and literature globally.

Warsi, president of the Urdu Center New York, has served for 34 years, organizing the first Urdu conference at the United Nations and publishing the international literary journal “Virsa”. He has received numerous awards, including the Pride of Pakistan award in 2017.

Warsi’s poetry has been sung by renowned singers from Pakistan and India, and his works have been published in various collections, including “Aina Hoon Mein” and “Kainat Dil”.

The award recognizes Warsi’s lifelong commitment to building a strong nation through volunteer services and his contributions to Urdu literature.
