Renowned Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane has strongly condemned her former Indian co-star Harshvardhan Rane for his controversial statement supporting Indian aggression and publicly withdrawing from their potential collaboration in the upcoming film Sanam Teri Kasam 2.

The backlash began when Harshvardhan Rane declared he would not work with Mawra in the sequel to their hit 2016 film Sanam Teri Kasam, citing her outspoken criticism of India’s recent military actions. Mawra had openly condemned Indian aggression on social media, expressing deep concern over the loss of innocent lives in Pakistan and calling for peace and responsibility from all sides.

In a sharp and unapologetic response, Mawra Hocane called Rane’s remarks “disappointing, absurd, and shameful,” accusing him of using a sensitive time to gain cheap publicity. “Children in my country have lost their lives. There have been attacks. Our forces responded. And amid all this, you make a film announcement? That’s appalling,” she said.

Mawra, who has starred in major Pakistani dramas such as Sabaat, Sammi, Aangan, and Qissa Meherbano Ka, has also earned acclaim across borders for her performances. She reminded Rane and the public that mutual respect among artists should not be overshadowed by political tensions.

“War is not a time for self-promotion. When two nuclear-armed nations stand at the edge of conflict, talking about casting decisions is the height of insensitivity and immaturity,” she said in her statement.

Hocane, who has millions of fans on social media, has been an active voice promoting peace and patriotism during recent escalations between Pakistan and India. Her stance has resonated with many who advocate for responsible discourse during international crises.
