Karachi( The COW News Digital)Pakistan Railways has announced the launch of a state-of-the-art business-class train service equipped with modern technology and enhanced passenger facilities. The upgraded service, which will operate between Karachi and Lahore, is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on July 19 at the Lahore Railway Station.

The revamped train—an upgrade of the existing Pak Business Express—will feature 28 newly imported Chinese digital coaches designed for premium comfort and efficiency. Railway officials confirmed that the new business train will include international-standard dining cars and offer complimentary Wi-Fi to all passengers, aiming to provide a high-end travel experience akin to global standards.

Although the introduction of advanced features has been confirmed, railway authorities have not yet disclosed whether the fare for this service will increase. Many expect the pricing to remain competitive, given the government’s broader initiative to modernize public transport without placing additional financial burden on passengers.

The launch is part of Pakistan Railways’ broader modernization strategy. In addition to upgraded coaches, the railway’s digital infrastructure is also being enhanced. This includes improved online ticket booking systems and a more robust live train tracking application, offering real-time updates to passengers across the country.

To further improve passenger experience, escalators have recently been installed at Lahore Railway Station. Additionally, the Railway Ministry has announced a pilot project to provide free Wi-Fi service at 40 major railway stations across the country, improving connectivity and access for travelers.

Officials hope that the new business train and associated technological improvements will not only improve service quality but also help boost ridership, especially among professionals and business travelers who value efficiency and digital convenience.

The new train is expected to significantly cut down travel time between Karachi and Lahore, while offering amenities previously unavailable in Pakistan’s railway sector. This move is seen as a major step forward in reviving the national railway as a reliable and modern mode of transportation.

The public and transport analysts alike are keenly watching the implementation, hoping that this is the beginning of long-term transformation across Pakistan’s rail network.
