Pakistan Railways Announces Fare Reduction for Passenger Trains

In a bid to make train travel more affordable and accessible to the public, Pakistan Railways has announced a reduction in fares for all classes of passenger trains. The fare reduction will be effective from August 3, 2024, and will apply to all passenger trains across the country.

According to a Pakistan Railways spokesperson, the fare for AC class tickets has been reduced by Rs100 to Rs150, while the fare for economy class tickets has been reduced by Rs50. This move is expected to benefit thousands of passengers who rely on train travel for their daily commutes and long-distance journeys.

The fare reduction comes on the heels of Pakistan Railways’ successful launch of a special train service from Karachi, which was introduced to cater to the surge in travel demand during the summer vacation season. The special train, which commenced its journey on July 1, generated significant revenue, with earnings exceeding Rs4 million.

The introduction of the special train service and the subsequent fare reduction demonstrate Pakistan Railways’ efforts to accommodate the increased travel needs of passengers during peak holiday periods. By providing a convenient and affordable travel option, Pakistan Railways aims to promote train travel and reduce the burden on roads.

The fare reduction is a welcome move for passengers who have been facing increased transportation costs in recent months. With the reduced fares, passengers can now enjoy a more affordable and comfortable travel experience on Pakistan Railways’ passenger trains.
