Pakistan is observing a national mourning day today in solidarity with Palestine and to condemn the ongoing Israeli brutalities. The decision was taken in a consultative meeting of government allied parties held in Islamabad under the chair of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The meeting strongly condemned the Israeli brutalities in Palestine for the last nine months and expressed full solidarity with the Palestinian brothers and sisters. A joint declaration was issued, announcing a funeral prayer in absentia for Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was martyred in Tehran on Wednesday. The prayer will be offered after Friday prayers across the country.
The government has also decided to present a resolution in Parliament to express full solidarity with the people of Palestine. The participants of the meeting urged the international community, including the United Nations, to break their silence and immediately stop the ongoing genocide of the oppressed Palestinians by the Zionist forces.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke on the occasion, condemning the silence of the international community over the ongoing Israeli barbarism in Palestine. He termed the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh as condemnable and urged the international community to take action against Israeli brutalities.
The premier appreciated the countries that have condemned the ongoing Israeli oppression in Gaza. He emphasized that preventing Israel from committing genocide is a big challenge for the modern world.
