Islamabad( The COW News Digital) Across the country, Pakistan is commemorating Defence Day today with national zeal and deep reverence, paying tribute to the martyrs and veterans who defended the nation with unmatched courage and sacrifice.
In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military leadership, including Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu, collectively paid homage to the heroes of September 6. The day marks the 60th anniversary of the Defence and Martyrs Day.
ISPR emphasized that September 6, 1965, symbolizes the unwavering resolve and indomitable spirit of the Pakistani nation. On this historic day, the Pakistan Armed Forces, backed by the unity of the people, thwarted the enemy’s numerical and military superiority, crushing its aggressive designs.
“The courage and sacrifices of our martyrs and ghazis have left an everlasting imprint on history, proving that a united nation can never be defeated,” ISPR stated.
The statement added that the bravery of the martyrs continues to serve as a guiding light for future generations, while their supreme sacrifices will always be remembered with gratitude. Today, the entire nation stands in solidarity with its martyrs, war veterans, and their families.
ISPR also highlighted that the Armed Forces have not only defended the country against external aggression and terrorism but have also stood shoulder to shoulder with the people in every natural disaster and trial. The statement noted that the Pakistan Army remains actively engaged in relief and rehabilitation work for recent flood victims, reaffirming its commitment to serving the nation beyond the battlefield.
Marking the solemnity of the day, ISPR said that Defence and Martyrs Day will be observed with simplicity and humility, reflecting respect for those who gave their lives for Pakistan’s security and sovereignty.
“Today is an occasion to renew the pledge that the Pakistan Armed Forces will remain vigilant and prepared at all times to safeguard the homeland. Every attempt to undermine Pakistan’s peace and stability will be met with a decisive response,” the statement concluded.
Prayers were also offered for the prosperity, security, and strength of Pakistan.
