Karachi (News Desk): The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) successfully rescued the crew of an Indian cargo ship stranded in adverse conditions at sea.

According to a PMSA spokesperson, a search and rescue operation was conducted to save nine crew members of the Indian vessel Dhow Tajdare Haram. The ship, located approximately 120 nautical miles south of Karachi, reported water ingress at around 11:00 AM on December 26. The crew abandoned the ship and took refuge in a lifeboat.

Upon receiving the distress alert from the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center in Mumbai, PMSA swiftly launched a coordinated rescue mission. A PMSA aircraft was dispatched to locate the survivors, and nearby commercial vessels and PMSA ships were directed to the site. The survivors were successfully rescued and later handed over to an Indian Coast Guard vessel operating in nearby waters for further assistance.

This marks PMSA’s second successful rescue operation within three weeks. On December 4, PMSA saved 12 Indian crew members from MSV Peeran Peer during a similar mission.

The PMSA remains committed to ensuring maritime safety and upholding international obligations under the SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) convention. These operations underscore PMSA’s dedication to saving lives at sea regardless of nationality and fostering regional maritime cooperation.
