A recent National Assembly session, chaired by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, highlighted the growing concern of mental health issues in Pakistan. The Ministry of Health presented data revealing that over 80 million people in the country suffer from psychological problems.

Despite the availability of psychiatric treatment facilities in major hospitals and active departments of mental health and psychiatry in 126 medical colleges, the scale of mental health issues remains a significant concern.

During the session, lawmaker Rai Hasan Nawaz raised concerns about the suspension of health card services initiated by the previous PTI government, suggesting political motivations. However, Federal Minister Jam Kamal clarified that the suspension was due to irregularities in the card processing system and assured that efforts are underway to restore the services.
