Pakistan\’s ambassador to the US, Masood Khan, has called on Washington to provide small arms and modern equipment to support Operation Azm-i-Istehkam, a new counter-terrorism initiative. The operation aims to dismantle terrorist networks, and Khan emphasized the need for sophisticated arms and communication equipment to ensure its success. He also stressed the importance of strong security links, intelligence cooperation, and military sales between the two nations.
Khan highlighted the three components of Azm-i-Istehkam: doctrinal, societal, and operational, and emphasized the need for US support in the fight against terrorism. He also invited US investors to explore Pakistan\’s market opportunities and technological advancements.
The ambassador emphasized the importance of basing the bilateral relationship on ground realities and not letting a few issues hinder cooperation. He suggested that the US consider Pakistan as a partner in diplomatic efforts in Kabul and collaborate on counterterrorism and women\’s rights in Afghanistan.
