Christian Community’s Role in Nation-Building Beyond Doubt, Says Interior Minister
Islamabad:
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring complete freedom for all minorities in the country.
In a statement issued on the occasion of Christmas, the minister extended warm greetings to the Christian community, highlighting the significance of the festival as a symbol of love, peace, and unity.
“Jesus Christ was sent to this world as a beacon of peace, harmony, and respect for all humanity. His teachings emphasized tolerance, compassion, and the values of love and empathy, transcending all divisions,” Naqvi said.
The minister expressed solidarity with the Christian community, stating, “We share the joy of our Christian brothers and sisters on Christmas. Today is not just a day of celebration but also a reminder of mutual respect and humanity.”
Referring to Pakistan’s founding principles, Naqvi noted, “Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah included the white stripe in the national flag to represent minorities. Protecting their rights is our duty. The Constitution of Pakistan safeguards the rights of all minority communities, guaranteeing them freedom and equality.”
Acknowledging the Christian community’s contributions to the country, Naqvi said, “The role of the Christian community in Pakistan’s development and progress is beyond question. I pray that this Christmas brings more success and prosperity to them.”
The minister concluded by emphasizing the government’s commitment to fostering an inclusive society where every citizen, regardless of faith, enjoys equal opportunities and freedoms.
