In a significant move to strengthen bilateral ties and foster a secure environment for investments, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has assured foolproof security for Chinese citizens and staff working on projects in Pakistan. A high-level meeting between Naqvi and a Chinese business delegation, led by Consul General Zhao Shirin, focused on improving safety measures and implementing enhanced security protocols.
The meeting, attended by top officials from law enforcement agencies, discussed suggestions from Chinese businessmen to refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the convenience of Chinese citizens. Naqvi announced the implementation of feasible suggestions, prioritizing the safety of Chinese citizens, and introduced online visas for Chinese citizens, available from August 14, to facilitate business travels to Pakistan.
Meanwhile, a high-level Chinese delegation visited Gwadar, exploring the South Free Zone and Gwadar Port. The delegation, headed by Wang Fukang of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, met with officials of the Gwadar Port Authority to discuss the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Phase 2 project. Chairman Gwadar Port Authority emphasized the importance of CPEC for the success of Gwadar Port.
This development underscores Pakistan’s commitment to providing a secure environment for Chinese investments and businesses, further solidifying the bilateral relationship between the two nations. The assurance of enhanced security measures and streamlined visa processes is expected to boost Chinese investment and trade in Pakistan.
