KURRAM( The COW News Digital) The Pakistan Army delivered a powerful and calculated response to unprovoked cross-border firing by Afghan Taliban and militant factions in Kurram district, destroying at least five tank positions and killing a key commander inside Afghan territory, according to security sources.
Officials said the exchange of fire began late Monday night when Afghan Taliban and elements identified as Fitna al-Khawarij opened fire without provocation on Pakistani military posts along the border in the Kurram sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Pakistan Army immediately retaliated with heavy precision strikes, continuing the operation for several hours.
Security sources confirmed that the retaliatory strikes inflicted severe damage on multiple Taliban positions. “The Pakistan Army’s response was swift, accurate, and devastating,” an official source told The COW News. “Several enemy posts caught fire, and five tank positions were completely destroyed within an hour.”
According to field reports, Taliban fighters and their allied militants abandoned several posts, leaving behind the bodies of their slain fighters. Among those killed was reportedly a senior commander of the Fitna al-Khawarij group, whose presence in the area had been under intelligence monitoring.
In one of the most significant actions of the night, Pakistani forces targeted a tank positioned at the Nargsar Post in Afghanistan’s Khost province, destroying both the tank and its crew. Additional strikes on Shamshad Post and Turkman Zai Top eliminated more armored positions and caused widespread panic among militant ranks.
Sources added that the army used advanced surveillance and night-vision systems to pinpoint enemy movements. “Video feed confirmed flames rising from the destroyed tank and enemy positions,” a senior security official stated.
The Pakistan Army also targeted a foreign-run training camp believed to be under the command of an Afghan national named Naeem, located near Polsin Post. The camp, allegedly used by Fitna al-Khawarij militants, was completely destroyed in the precision strike.
“The operations in the Kurram sector demonstrate Pakistan’s resolve to defend its borders and eliminate threats from across the frontier,” a senior military source said. “Any act of aggression will be met with a decisive and overwhelming response.”
As of Tuesday morning, calm had returned to the border area, though Pakistani troops remain on high alert amid fears of further cross-border aggression.
