Pakistan and Türkiye Agree to Broadcast Each Other’s TV Dramas

Istanbul – Federal Minister for Information, Attaullah Tarar, met with Türkiye’s Presidential Head of Communications, Professor Fahrettin Altun, to strengthen cooperation in the media sector. The two sides discussed enhancing public diplomacy, combating Islamophobia and misinformation, facilitating media delegations, and collaborating on joint productions.

An agreement was reached to air Turkish dramas, such as Diriliş: Ertuğrul, on Pakistan Television (PTV), and Pakistani productions on Türkiye’s state broadcaster, TRT. Both countries also decided to establish a working group and appoint focal persons to further cooperation between Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications.

Minister Attaullah Tarar emphasized the historical and fraternal ties between Pakistan and Türkiye, noting the vast potential for collaboration in media. He highlighted that strengthened media cooperation would deepen people-to-people connections. The meeting also explored partnerships in entertainment and tourism sectors through joint projects.

Tarar remarked that joint productions would promote cultural exchange and raise awareness among the younger generation about the historical ties between the two nations. He extended an invitation to Professor Altun to visit Pakistan, which was graciously accepted.

Professor Altun expressed keen interest in the development of Pakistan’s media industry, praising the popularity of Ertuğrul Ghazi in Pakistan. He also acknowledged the admiration for Pakistani actors and musicians in Türkiye. Altun emphasized that enhanced media cooperation would support the fight against Islamophobia and misinformation.

Minister Tarar thanked Türkiye for its media coverage of the Kashmir issue, underscoring the importance of continued collaboration in advocating for shared causes.
