New York ( The COW News Digital)Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar, has drawn a stark comparison between the policies of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stating that both leaders are pursuing disturbing and identical strategies in their respective occupied territories.

Speaking at a solemn event held in New York to mark six years since the revocation of Article 370, which stripped Jammu and Kashmir of its autonomous status, the Pakistani envoy warned the international community of growing parallels between India’s actions in Kashmir and Israel’s conduct in Palestine.

The event was jointly organized by Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the UN and the Consulate General of Pakistan in New York on Kashmir Exploitation Day. The session featured other key speakers including Dr. Asif ur Rehman, Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai (Secretary General of the World Kashmir Awareness Forum), and Ambassador Hamid Opeloyeru, the OIC’s Permanent Observer to the UN.

Ambassador Iftikhar noted that both governments are engaged in efforts to displace local populations, alter demographic compositions, and suppress indigenous voices—whether in occupied Kashmir or Gaza. He accused India of “demographic engineering” by issuing domiciles to non-Kashmiris and gerrymandering electoral boundaries to mute Kashmiri political representation.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the Kashmiri cause, saying, “Kashmiris are not alone. Pakistan stands by them and will continue to offer political, diplomatic, and moral support until justice prevails.”

The Consul General of Pakistan in New York, Aamir Ahmad Ata Ullah Zaidi, praised the resilience of the Kashmiri people in the face of “Indian brutality,” while Ambassador Opeloyeru reiterated the OIC’s consistent call for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN Charter and relevant Security Council resolutions.

A moment of silence was also observed at the Pakistani Embassy in Washington, D.C. during a special webinar featuring Senator Mushahid Hussain, former envoy Munir Akram, and British scholar Dr. Victoria Schofield, who emphasized the need for mediation and inclusive dialogue, suggesting Northern Ireland’s peace model as a potential pathway.

Speakers warned that India’s unilateral actions risk igniting wider conflict in a nuclear-armed region, and reiterated that peace is only achievable through international engagement and inclusion of Kashmiri voices in any solution.
