A New York-based art firm has confirmed that a painting purchased for just $50 at a garage sale in Minnesota is actually a long-lost masterpiece by legendary Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh.

Titled Elimar, the artwork was initially examined by a museum in the Netherlands, which had dismissed it as not being an authentic Van Gogh piece. However, an American museum remained convinced that the painting’s stylistic features strongly indicated the work of the iconic 19th-century artist.

The painting was bought at a Minnesota garage sale and later sold to the New York-based art research firm LMI Group International in 2019.

This week, LMI Group released an extensive 450-page report, providing evidence that the painting is indeed an authentic Van Gogh creation, making it a remarkable rediscovery in the world of art.
