A tragic bus accident in Iran’s city of Yazd claimed the lives of 28 Pakistani pilgrims, leaving the nation in mourning. In a swift response, a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) C-130 aircraft was dispatched to repatriate the bodies of the deceased and transport the injured back to Pakistan.

The special flight, instructed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, landed at Shahbaz Air Base in Jacobabad late Friday night. Funeral prayers were offered at the airbase, attended by Sindh Minister for Energy, Planning and Development Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, PAF personnel, and family members of the victims.

The bus accident, which occurred on Tuesday, also left 23 Pakistani pilgrims injured, with 14 in critical condition. Special arrangements were made for the transportation of the affected persons, including ambulances for the injured and an air ambulance for the seriously injured.

The government’s prompt response to the tragedy is commendable. Prime Minister Sharif’s instructions for cooperation with the families of the victims and the deployment of a special aircraft demonstrate the state’s commitment to its citizens. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar’s oversight of the efforts carried out by the Pakistani Consulate in Iran ensured the provision of medical aid to the injured and assistance in repatriating the bodies.

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced financial assistance for the families of the deceased and injured, a gesture that will help alleviate their suffering.

The repatriation of the bodies and the injured is a testament to the government’s efforts to provide comfort to the affected families. As the nation mourns the loss of its citizens, we must come together to support those who have been left behind.
