Lower Kurram: Security forces and police are continuing operations against militants in the affected areas of Lower Kurram for the third consecutive day. According to district administration officials, security personnel are actively deployed in the regions, and operations are being conducted using gunship helicopters.
The operations have targeted militant hideouts in Bagan, Pista Wani, and adjacent areas, including the Bagan Dad Qamar and nearby mountain ranges. Militants’ positions in the central Kurram area of Zardana have also been struck.
Provincial Assembly Member Ali Hadi Irfani raised concerns over the ongoing blockade of the Peshawar-Kurram Road, which has been closed for the past three months, causing a severe shortage of medicines and essential food supplies. He said that the closure of the road has crippled daily life, with many people dying due to lack of access to healthcare and food.
Irfani further stated that the helicopter service, which has been used to deliver medicines and transport patients, has helped to some extent but urged for its continuation. He also called for the restoration of the blocked routes and their security to ensure safe passage for residents.
