In a dramatic development, the residence of Omar Ayub Khan, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and PTI Secretary General, was raided by Mianwali police in collaboration with Islamabad police on Sunday. Ayub was not present at his F-10 residence in Islamabad at the time of the raid.
The raid came a day after an anti-terrorism court in Sargodha issued arrest warrants for Ayub in connection with a terrorism-related case. Ayub confirmed the development on social media, stating that the raid was an attempt to arrest him due to his involvement in the “Form 47” campaign, a political maneuver aimed at destabilizing the current government.
The PTI leader maintained that the federal and Punjab governments, along with their agencies, were desperate to arrest him. He vowed to continue the party’s lawful struggle until Imran Khan, the PTI founding chairman, is reinstated as Prime Minister.
This development is the latest in a series of legal battles faced by the PTI since its ouster from power in April 2022. The party has been engaged in an anti-government movement, which has led to clashes with law enforcement agencies. The PTI has also faced internal rifts and confusion, with Ayub’s resignation as secretary general being rejected by the party chairman.
