Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed that the ballistic missile used by Russia in a deadly attack on Kyiv earlier this week was of North Korean origin and contained dozens of components manufactured by American companies.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, President Zelensky disclosed that the missile, which struck the Ukrainian capital on April 24, killing 12 civilians and injuring nearly 90 others, included at least 116 foreign-made parts — many of them produced by U.S.-based manufacturers.
“This missile, which killed our civilians in Kyiv, included critical components sourced from abroad. Tragically, a large number of these were made by American companies,” Zelensky said.
He confirmed that rescue operations following the attack have now concluded, but over 30 people remain hospitalized, several in critical condition, with some having undergone amputations due to severe injuries.
Preliminary investigations, Zelensky noted, strongly suggest that the weapon was a North Korean ballistic missile — a serious escalation in what Kyiv describes as growing military collaboration between Moscow and Pyongyang.
Calling the incident a “grave warning,” President Zelensky urged the international community to take immediate and stringent measures to halt the flow of arms and military cooperation between Russia and North Korea.
“This is not just a Ukrainian tragedy — it is a global security threat,” he warned.
