No Release Has Taken Place So Far in Light of American Statements

Washington: Former Pakistani Ambassador to the United States, Hussain Haqqani, stated that U.S. policy is not shaped on social media, and there is a misconception among people that U.S. officials can resolve issues by making phone calls. He further remarked that while U.S. representatives frequently make statements on human rights, no release has occurred based on these statements so far.

Hussain Haqqani emphasized that, personally, he also wishes for the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, but he does not foresee any immediate change in U.S. policy on the matter. Recalling a past instance, Haqqani mentioned that during the tenure of former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani, he had met with U.S. officials regarding the release of Aafia Siddiqui, but the U.S. had refused to advance discussions on the issue.
